Asaba, February 9, 2019 – Northwest Petroleum has commissioned another Mega station in Asaba, Delta State, located along the Benin-Asaba Expressway, opposite Oshimili South Local Government Secretariat, Asaba, Delta State. The Station is fitted with Wayne’s highest model Helix 4000 State-of-the-art pumps with 26 Nozzles dispensing fuel at a rate of 40 litres per minute. This is currently the ONLY filling station with these pumps in Asaba, Delta State.
The blessing of the station was done by His Grace, The Catholic Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Benin & Vice President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, Most Rev. Dr. Augustine Obiora Akubeze.
The Director, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Mr. Mordecai Ladan, disclosed during the official launch that the DPR expects every worker to return home safely after work. This is a priority aspect of our regulatory drive. Mr. Ladan, who was duly represented by the Assistant Director Retail Outlets & Marketing, Mrs. Ijeoma Onyeri, said HSE management is a key driver of operations in the oil and gas industry. The DPR procedure guide for retail outlets, the Mineral Oils (safety) regulations, MOSR, 1997 are some of the good reference documents for enhanced HSE and SOP compliance for the facility. She also noted “we are delighted to state that this facility is built to regulatory specifications and considerations which were duly monitored by the DPR”.
The special guest at the occasion, The Executive Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, tasked the Federal Government on availability of Kerosene with appropriate pricing of petroleum products to ease the suffering of Nigerians. He said “it is our hope and prayer that kerosene will never be out of stock and we thank God that we are going to get it at official price at this ultra-modern mega facility”. The Governor also noted the wonderful project Northwest Petroleum has established in the Asaba metropolis.
The Managing Director, and Chief Executive Officer, Northwest Petroleum, Mrs. Winifred Akpani said the company is committed to selling products only at official pump prices. “We are fully committed to ensuring the availability of petroleum products to the public strictly at government regulated prices. Consequently, we have advanced from being bulk importers of petroleum product to being a mega retailer and have embarked on the construction of more mega filling stations across the country”.
